Wolves appear very broadly within folklore and mythological traditions from around the world to the extent to which some consider it to be an archetype. Exact symbolism of the wolf varies, including the representation of a hungry Shadow self, or a demonic presence. To contrast, some cultures believe that humans are descendant from wolves, and the wolf may have a protective quality as well. In any case, a wolf is considered to be a distinctly wild creature - of the forest and the landscape. The hunt of the pack is known as pure death to its prey.
